Recently sold an aluminum-necked guitar for $1800...bought it for $1100 a year and a half ago. Gotta love the insanity of the market right now.

what kind?

my two biggest bragging pieces were:

1) I bought a 64 bassman with 2x12 cab off ebay like 3 years ago from it's original owner, an older lady who had played bass in the church band. her grandson listed it with a buy it now of $300 and it was about a 10 minute drive from me so I could pick it up same day and not pay shipping. it even had the original speaker wire connecting the two. it stayed in church or her basement for 40 years.

2) I had built this Stratocaster out of 70's strat parts(79 neck, 76 body) and loaded some Torres pickups into it. it played pretty nice. I had a fella trade me a 72 goldtop Les Paul deluxe for it straight across. He couldn't play the Les Paul cause the neck was too big for him and the Strat fit him perfect. I payed like $900 for all the parts on the Strat including a custom refinish on the body so trading for a $3000 guitar seemed like a fine trade to me.

I'm pretty lucky on stuff like that though, I could go on all day.

I got an early 70's Ampeg B-15N Portaflex on Ebay a few months back for just under $700. I never see them go for anything less than $1,000.

I haven't been using Ebay too much lately. I think the B-15N was my last big purchase as far as gear is concerned.

Oh, I didn't mean my LAST, as in final, big gear purchase. I meant the last one I made. There will surely be many more extravagant, irresponsible musical gear purchases in my future. It's a curse.

800w 2x15 EV cab for $400 off Craigslist. Coincidentally I knew the owner and had played through the cab about 10 years prior.

Tryanor Monoblock B for $100 off eBay. It was broken (which was advertised), but I had it fixed. In the end I spent around $350, if you include shipping and repair fees.
