Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.

I searched high and low and then high again and found a pre-Maestro echoplex that works well and sounds great. Very little warble at the highest delay times.

Here's the rub: a lot of hiss when I turn it past 50% wet. Does it need new tape? I guess. Maybe the heads need to be cleaned.

It sounds perfect with guitar, keys, sax, vox....

For coming out of an interface, should I use a reamp box? I want to put some piano through it.

It uses small 8-track style tape cartridges similar to old dictophones. They fuck up fast, rarely make good contact with the heads and are very hard to find. A company makes a similar cartridge that can work with some alteration but last time I tried to get in contact with then I got no reply.

I have gone through 3 of these machines just to try to get 1 to work in the last 2 years with only a little luck that never lasts.

They are cheap because they hardly ever work.

Yes, it makes echo sounds.

You know, I had a feeling it might make echo sounds. I don't know exactly why. I just had a hunch . Does it in any way fake the over-saturated/too old tape type of grit you get from the real deal or is it just a digital delay. I guess what I'm asking is how does it compare to the Space Echo.

Yeah, don't even bother with these pieces of shits. That company everyone brings up when referring to the Univox Tape Echo has stopped making those tape cartridges a long time ago, so don't even bother.

I bought one for $20, thinking I could fix it and it would be a great deal. Sold the fucker for $15.
