Steely Dan had some really great albums. Several, actually. They made their own type of music, presumably had a good time doing it, and were lucky enough to sell millions of records and make enough money to probably never need to work a day in their lives unless they choose to. That's more than any of us here can say.

The Minutemen are pretty well respected, right? Did they ever cover No Means No, or was it just Steely Dan?

No Means No with Jello Biafra.

etc

hhhhm weird. I always thought the lyric was "don't bring me down Bruce". It makes me picture two burly Leather Men having a fight on the dance floor. Song so bad it gives me goose bumps.

I always thought it was "bruce" as well.

Closed captioning recently hipped me to the "grooss" thing.

Great drumbeat in that r-tarded song.

Anybody ever notice a Fugazi song where Guy basically sings the same "ooh-OOH-ooh!!" as is found in that song (right before the "tell you once more" line)? I always found that kinda odd or creepy or something.

I'm not interested in Dave Grohl, or any of his bands. Or what Dave Grohl has to say about anything other than doing bongs I suppose.

However, I do love The Dan. Excellent.

I thought it was "Bruce", too, for the longest time. What the hell is a "Grooss", anyway?

I never really heard Steely Dan until right now. I feel like every time I hear someone I really don't like, they have this similar, horrible quality and I never know where it is from.

Now I do.

What i terrible band.

This thread reminds me of a quote of Lincoln's:

"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."

I'm pretty sure that's from the Bible.

Funny I used to really HATE the Dan... Now I pretty much love them. Maybe I'm getting soft in my old age. Aja is over-played and the beginning of the end for them but all their albums preceding it are pretty fantastic.

Seedy music for perverts , drug addicts and creeps.

Awesome.
