This is a wireless data plan, using the cell phone wireless network. Still BS, but because of speed issues it is difficult to use 42GB of data on said network. I assume this is a wireless card that plugs into a laptop, because 42GB on a cell phone is an even more impressive feat...

Sounds like a major screw job. I got screwed by my phone company some years ago. It is a bitch. When a bill is that amount I think you may be able to contact your senator (as I did). Although in my case I had to pay something this agreegious is something you are not suffering alone.

In my case the company had done the same thing to a bunch of people and the loophole in the regulations were closed up.

That bill is insane though. Hope there is something you can do to get this cut.

Adam I wrote:Holy fuck.

Holy, holy fuck.

I pay £15 for 40gb of internet, plus line rental, plus totally free calls every evening and weekend, plus totally free calls anytime to 30+ country's.

Given that the UK is supposed to have the world's shittiest ISP deals, this is a surprise...

$21,000! Holy fuck!

Who you with Mr Adam?

I thought that $21,000 remark was an exaggeration for comic effect but it seems, from others reactions, I was wrong.

If that's a real bill amount you can add my commiserations to the list.

Fucking scum will be nearish the top of the list - come the revolution.

I have Sprint for my wireless phone. Their data charge is a flat $0.03 / KB, which ends up being insane if you do even the most basic stuff. But the data plan, for highspeed EVDO, is $15 a month for unlimited data access. I usually use somewhere in the hundreds of MB per month. I'm still happy to have stuck with Sprint since I got my first cell phone 7 years ago.

I think Time Warnermight be following suit. So far only in a few cities though, and none of them New York. I was actually thinking of switching to Verizon if TW pulled that, but now I guess I have no other options. Fuck them all.

I hope that was just an exaggeration you made Ace, if not, I wish you the best of luck in getting your money back from the scumbags.

Talktalk.

Average monthly bill for internet, line rental, phone calls (including several hours of international calls (Ireland and Canada)) is £20.

Dunno what the current Talktalk deals are. We've been saving plenty since switching.

I have no fucking clue what I'm going to do. I've been sharing the internet with two other people, so all that bandwith is the combination of a lot of things; however, we're all fucked & no internet for now. It's going to be a few days for verizon to sort their half of this issue out, but if not, i'm going too need to talk with a lawyer/ the media.

I still sort of can't believe this mess. I mean, I've just been walking around all day in a daze...

Yeah, the data charge used to fuck a lot of people over when I sold wireless phone plans. We'd even explain to people how a single ring tone could cost them $80 in addition to the $3.95 of whatever the company selling the ring tone was charging, ask if they wanted the data transfer capability dropped or wanted to buy an unlimited data package, and they'd STILL come into the shop irate that their kid got a hold of their phone and started downloading crap and playing games and now they had a $500 bill. I would have had more sympathy if the company I worked for didn't stress that part of the contract when people signed.

Fuck it Ace, if shit comes to shit they can't MAKE you pay. Fuck em. Just don't pay.
What's the worst they can do? Be mad? Put a bad mark on your credit? Big deal.
You should see how much US Bank says I owe them. 'Fuck you' I say when they call. Then I laugh.
