Mid-price range Bass amps: Which?

13
Again, thanks for the f/b. By way of an update, I'm pretty much going to go with a combo, I understand the argument for the head/cab and if the need to upgrade comes up some time in the future I'll just have to cross that bridge when I come to it.
I just tried a Hughes and Kettner BK200 and it sound much better than all the ones I tried earlier in the week. It's currently at the top of the list. I still have to test the Fender Bassman and the Marshall MB150.

Do any of you guys have experience of Hughes and Kettner amps?

Cheers

I've got a pair of B-100r's that I've been using for a least 3 years now and I think they're very good. Nice sound, but when you push the volume the tone suffers. That's why I got the 2nd one. I split the signal coming out of my bass, (which is also a p-bass), and feed both amps. It sounds huge and preserves the sound. Also, if it's a show with a good p.a. and monitors I can get away with using only one of them.

Someone else mentioned the new 200 watt version they have out. I haven't heard those yet but they do sound interesting.

Anybody heard those new Acoustic 1x15" 100 watt combos yet? I saw an add for them and was a curious if they were any good. They're only $250 or so.
Good Luck,

they're the guitar center house brand. i don't know if they kept any of the old acoustic designs, but i doubt it. try 'em good before you buy.

I did not know that. Chances are I wouldn't buy one unless I liked it more than my Ampegs. What caught my eye was how inexpensive they were.
