this is why I started buying my own equipment and recording myself. people have a weird concept of how things "should" be recorded are are also typically unreliable.

DON'T SLAP THE GUY.
Because, HE MIGHT SUE YOU.
You certainly don't want to have to deal with him anymore, right?
The more you resist something, the more it persists.
Stop paying any attention to him, and he'll fade away eventually.
this advice might also work for some ex-girlfriends...

having people work for free or steeply discounted hardly ever turns out well for everyone involved - and WTF, he doesn't even own his own gear - yet has the audacity to try and tell you guys 'how it should be done'. sounds like he's been reading too many threads on gearslutz and not enough time pressing record.

There's your problem right there.
You get what you pay for.

So he's unfamiliar with the concept of gain structure because he had never used that specific model of board?
The lack of mic stands and headphone length are making me shudder with dark, dark memories. Best of luck.

Sounds like your whole operation is whacked. The guy is probably a wax dart but it's more than just his fault.
Don't hit him until the demo is done with.
Also don't pay people with beer to do anything but A. rock out or B. fuck your penis.

New rule: Nothing, and I mean nothing, ever recorded by you or any member of yr band from now on is a "scratch track". Deal?
