I did buy the Silverburst from the same shop though, for $600.

My dumb ass turned down an offer to buy a late 70s greenish burst LP Custom for $350 because it had some hum in it's pickups. Dumb, dumb, dumb. The guy who was selling it, a friend of mine, "sold" it to a guitar store in Loves Park, IL for $400. The check bounced and the store said they sold it at a guitar show and basically to go get fucked.

Marauders are fucking excellent guitars. My personal favorite.

When they pop up on Craigs around here they go for under 500. I wouldn't buy one for more than that because you could get an L6-S for around 4 or 500, 6 at the most and they are similar in feel and sound but a much better guitar all around. I should not have sold mine. That dude got a steal as they've doubled in price since then. I still made money off it but it was a real sweet guitar.

It's hard to find a $400-$500 L6-S nowadays. They're getting expensive. I think these sellers are coping on. I just bought one on ebay for $520, which I feel is a decent price. No case.

Here's the yellow sparkle one i bought for $400 in 1999. It has PRS pickups.

I don't think I've ever played a marauder.

I have a '78 marauder with the rotary knob. I think it's a fine instrument. The pickups aren't the "hottest" or loudest around (this becomes especially clear when A/B'd against a travis bean), but you can get some great overdriven/tele type sounds out of them. To me, full neck pick-up might be a little muddy, and full bridge pick-up might be a tad harsh, but you can really dial in some good tones if you get the rotary knob. Shit, it's got a flying V neck; great for jamming on some UFO tunes.

There's really nothing wrong with norlin-era instruments. They get a bad rap, but you can get a good deal on them.

Plus, I feel liked I saved it from the wrath of Paul Stanley. He pretty much smashed one to pieces every night from 1975 to 1977. So many marauders...

Would like to try one out. I'm slowly getting used to non-Fender necks on guitars.

They don't care about songwriting or art or ethics, etc. Feel free to add more.
