Guitar through a Bass Cab - Anyone?

Super Reverbs too. 4X10"
Sound great.

Fender had the Vibro-King thing in the late 90's
It had 3X10"
The guy from Southern Culture on the Skids had one and it sounded amazing.

I've found it's more type of driver dependent as opposed to what size the speakers are.

With Fenders, like my '66 Blackface, Jensen P12Q's sound great. With the 18 watt and my Ampeg V2, I'm discovering that Celestions like the G12H30 and the Blue alnico driver work really well.

I've had good luck with a 15"bass driver in an ampeg cab with guitar but ultimately I found the Celestions sounded better.

I haven't used 10" drivers so I'm really not sure about my theory...

B_M_L, you'll find that there are many people on this board who use a bass heads for guitars. Myself included. Prolly about half the guitarists on the PRF use bass heads.

I love ampeg v4b and bassman's , which technically are for bass, but I love guitar on them waaay more than I like bass on them. I am sure most will agree.

I was hoping that using a 4x10 would make it sound 'tighter' - as you said, maybe more grainy... I don't know if that's the right word - less of the 'guitary' sound and more coiled and agressive - leaner maybe.

Maybe I should leave the tech room. I don't know how to describe what I thought it would sound like.

if its an old ampeg 4x10 you will love it!! I promise

At some point I’d love to use a bass head – just to see what it sounds like, but this is just the cab at the moment. I have Marshall 50w guitar head that I really like – but at the moment I play it through a pretty crap 2x12 cab.

I’m going to give the 4x10 a go. It’s a friend’s – he is moving back to NZ and wants to get rid of it so the price is good.
