Are they supposed to be somewhat silent when banging on them acoustically?i'll definitely file an indepth report after i've gotten the damn thing rigged. it's my understanding that the cymbals, while metal, have a layer of coating to keep them from sounding too much. i expect that it'll be sort of clicky - like when change is tossed into the coin jar...

A bunch of the snare drums were out on a session. It's a sickness. I have guitars and amps, too. So, here's that Gretsch restoration project I am gonna take on:Because y'know, I have a lot of drums, but I don't have any of those!!

It's a work in progress at well. The problem with owning so much gear is not getting it, it's maintaining it.Almost all of my kits need fresh heads right now. The '80s Ludwigs need some hoops that aren't die-cast marching hoops on the toms. The guy who had them before had those ridiculously heavy hoops on them, which totally chokes the resonance. I got them cheap, though. Supercheap. I get everything supercheap. And then they need new heads. OH, and the 14" by 14" tom on that Ludwig kit needs floor tom brackets and legs. See?
