i am obsessed with neon genesis evangelion, and there are a number of other good anime series and films.
though there is alot of crap out there.. but isnt this true for all things?

Saying you don't like anime is like saying you don't like Black and White films. They are so diverse that a blanket statement like that is ignorant.

CRAP.

As noted, way too broad to be easily judged. Plenty of bad and plenty of good. At the top of both lists is Fist of the North Star, the worst and best anime of all time ever. Since the bad anime is mostly mediocre, and the worst anime (FotNS) is fantastic, and the best anime (Ghibli) is really great, I go Not Crap.

I say its not crap, for the fact that its bizarre and creepy.
One of my good friends' girlfriend has a mortally irate when in the presence of anime and grinds her teeth to the point of pain. Why? Her friend once subjected her to 8 hours of nonstop Dragon Ball Z, with his running commentary. Now she hates him and all anime.

although english dubbed anime is usually pretty bad,
i really enjoy a few shows:
Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, and many others i'm too lazy to think of,
(and of course movies such as: Akira, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and others)
I don't buy a lot of anime, but i love going to the San Diego Comic-Con and spending an entire day in the anime rooms (where they play them in Japanese, of course)
I think the animation is beautiful,
