Arghh, Not Crap. I would probably go. Uh, how much? Hmmmm...
High waffle factor for possible suckery. I mean, they could play a "best of" show and also choose the better non-hits (Pressed Rat And Warthog, Deserted Cities Of The Heart, etc.), and do the fans a solid.
Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce play better now than they did back in 1967.
Eric Clapton is most likely going to be the weak link. I'm positive his equipment will make a big difference. If he's smart, hell be playing through 4X12 cabinets and a non Paul Reed Smith Humbucker equipped guitar.
If he comes out with some tweaked Fender Tweed amp and a Strat, the shows over, kid.

very true.
I love Ginger Baker, but I just heard that it was Tom Dowd's idea to go with the down beat feel in 'Sunshine of Your Love".
Waffle sandwich - hold the crap.

13I think Cream is taking a bit too much of a pounding in C/NC thus far. They had quite a few great songs. When they came together (which admittedly was not that often) it was hot shit. You guys are being too harsh on Clapton. He kicked up a lot of dust in that band.
There was something missing with them, though. Overall, they added up to less than the sum of their parts somehow.
And I don't think there should be any interest whatsoever in a Cream reunion. Clapton has not played one note with any semblance of the loud blues/rock abandon he had in Cream for 30+ years. He's going to show up with some Line 6 version of his old gtr sound and it's going to be absolute ass.
Cream: N/C
Cream reunion: MEGA-CRAP

14I don't like Cream at all, but "Badge" qualifies as a good song by a godawful band. Seeing as George Harrison probably wrote it, I'm not sure it even matters here.
I will, however, admit to having a soft spot for Derek & the Dominoes--and yes, I'm as sick of "Layla" as anyone else.

15See, this is where I get a little protective of my childhood heros. When people put down a band based on the 'hits', I get worried they have not scratched deeper into their catalog. I remember on the Led Zeppelin C/NC there were some basing their crap vote for the band on 'Stairway to Heaven' which is a total straight ahead rock power-ballad oddball in the LZ songbook. Yes...popular... but not at all like 98% of their ass kicking twisted blues-rock.
So, yeah Eric Clapton has had his fair share of crap over the years. OK, more than his fair share. But seeing any footage of the band will confirm his power in those days. Those guys were laying it down! Jack Bruce was going one on one with Clapton with his 'lead bass' thing WHILE singing and all! And though I am not a huge Ginger Baker fan in general, I do see him as a very unique drummer, especially for the time. Yes, he was no Bonham. He still had is oddnesses that worked well in my opinion. And so what if Tom Dowd came up with the switched up down beat on 'White Room'? You do not have to invent something to play it well.
The reunion? I dunno. I will have to wait to see. I can't imagine going. It can not be anything like seeing them when they were young, skinny, hairy, shot full of heroin, and had something to prove.

ah...shit. i have to vote not crap, even though i don't really like cream in general, and i am not a clapton fan. the rhythm section was really pretty good.
Yes, I agree with everything stated here. Exactly what I would have said.
Clapton is easily the world's most overrated guitarist
Eric Clapton has never done anything even remotely worthwhile

The lesson here: Don't do hella cocaine for decades! Even if you've got mad chops your music will be bland. Then you're too old to redeem yourself once you've cleaned up your coked out ass.

19There's a semi-famous quote from Clapton where he said that he was playing a show, I forget if it was with Cream or Derek and the Dominoes or Blind Faith or what, and he was tripping on acid and "every time I played something loud, the audience's faces looked like devils, and every time I did something softer, they turned into angels. I decided I liked playing to angels better." Something like that. Anyway, to me that explains everything.

20I just watched the classic albums episode devoted to Disraeli Gears. These shows are marketing coups in that they can generate interest in music one would otherwise dismiss or simply ignore.
Such was not the case with Cream. I remain utterly indifferent to their music. What a bunch of stone bores.
