Decided to bump this back up after reading the poll on The Life and Times and it's mention of this fine band.

I sure do like Jawbox... Yep, Jawbox, Spock's Beard, IQ, Marillion, Shudder to Think and Genesis are my favorite bands ever.
I like their major label output, and agree, it was great... I still think Novelty was their best.
I think Shudder to Think's Pony Express was another major label release that was really fucking great. Their best one.
Never did like that Red House song, though. Reminds me of Tom fucking Petty or something. Never got the big hoo hah about that one. Yeah, soft country rock. Yeah!

I love Jawbox. All of it. Most especially "Dreamless."
I agree that they went further out there (relatively speaking) with each release.
They ought to be getting kick backs from half the "emo" rock bands I hear on the radio today.
NOT CRAP

Not crap, of course not!, although I haven't listened to their records lately. I love all of them more or less but "Novelty" is definitely my favourite LP. I’m so curious about remastered version of CD. Both songs from CD bonus single are equally great. I like Jay's voice very much. Congratulations Jawbox...
Viva viva viva Dischord!!!

From start to finish, a great band.
Each album is distinct. My only complaint is that the Grippe and Novelty recordings are sort of sterile.
And live, they punched my balls off.
NOT CRAP.

I played their cover of "Cornflake Girl" a lot on my college radio station to annoy the Tori Amos fans in the group. For this alone, Jawbox is the not crap.

Is it just me, or does he sort of have a British accent when he sings? It's probably just me, but this is another thing that reminds me of IQ or Genesis.

EDIT: Confused one of their records with another band's.

jawbox were cool.
pretty much all their stuff is decent, the highpoints being 'novelty' and 'for your own special sweetheart'.
burning airlines rocked too.

appears i'm the only crap vote. i tried and tried to get into them, but they were just boring as hell. that one song, savory, rules. i also saw them live once and they were great.
