best bass lines?

i dunno which one it is, but the song with the best bassline has to be something by Yes circa ~1970. it pretty much has to.

"jungle boogie" by those guys with the name, that one has a great bassline.

"tell me something good" as per the poll in C/NC right now, that one slays.

"groove is in the heart" is pretty cool.

"green eyed lady" is certainly well up there.

what about that one song by Dianogah, y'know, the one with the bassline?

As previously mentioned, just about anything by Peter Hook gets my vote. At least the Joy Division and New Order stuff. Revenge and Monaco, not so much (though "What Do You Want From Me?" by Monaco is a great song). Hump that bass, Peter Hook!

Same goes for Jah Wobble in his PIL days (I haven't really investigated his post-PIL stuff, though I'm sure some of it is worthwhile), especially "Poptones".

Bruce Thomas from the Attractions did some neat stuff, as did Tina Weymouth.

It's too hard to decide, and I'm forgetting a bunch of stuff.
