a few months ago a wal-mart was built about 3 minutes away from us. you know, a super wal-mart. with the groceries, and auto repair, and a gas station. we went by there just to see what it was like the first week it was open. it actually seemed nice at the time - nice, new smell, pergo floors in the clothes sections, tv screens with the wal-mart network on....and i said to my wife "just wait...next time we come in here, it'll have that smell. the wal-mart smell." next time we came back, surely enough, the smell. and it was trashed. i don't know what it is. but its in every damn wal-mart i've ever been in. what is that smell?
but we still go there sometimes. cheap emeril's sauce. and ginger ale. and prilosec. and milk. and breyer's ice cream. still, a CRAP store, nonetheless.

Apparently a Wal Mart in Quebec combatted the attempt at unionization of the workers by deciding to close the store.

I guess that is one way to keep your employees in line!

At Meijer you can buy a videogame, groceries, linens, and more, at 3 in the morning, and get rung up by a Union cashier. I'm happy to be a Michigander.

It's the smell of utter despair and resignation. It's the smell of cheaply made toxic crap leeching VOCs and PAHs into the stale air being inhaled by those that have wholly accepted that
this is as good as it gets.
Every 21st century need and requirement for continued sustanance of biological functioning and meeger diversion is satisfied by this facility. We are not special or unique. We do not have particular tastes or desires that make us feel alive and engaged in experience. We are WalMart customers, and they will supply whatever we are fit to consume until we die; and then our children, and children's children.....

It's all too bad if you live in Arkansas, where Wal-Mart isn't an option, it's the only option. Completely unbelievable how this business enterprise has now expanded into a nationwide malignant growth.
The darkness is imprisoning me.

Every last one of my "friends" worships the stolen land these superstore-shaped tumors are retched upon. Here in the southeast, get twenty miles away from any major city and you'll find it to be the only shopping option. After ten minutes shuffling from aisle to discombobulated aisle, I feel like a goddamned zombie. The employees always make it a point to flaunt their disgruntlement and the places are always peopled with the dregs of humanity. Twenty minutes under the buzzing florescents getting knocked about by humongous women shopping for fabric softener and sunflower douche and I want to sterilize myself. I always leave feeling dirty and ashamed.
I hate Wal-Mart. Complete and utter shit. Not a waffle in sight.
Sorry for bumping this. It was linked from that Target thread.

Worked there for 15 days earlier this summer.
All my friends were guessing that I'd only last two week.
I beat out their expectations by a day.
Yay for me.
By the way
It sucked ass!

Isn't that because on your 14th day they locked you up overnight to polish the floors?
