TAR appreciation

I saw the Tar/jawbox tour in 1992. I became a big Tar fan, bought as much of the stuff as I could find. Later I drove to Chicago to see Tar and the show was cancelled. Then I saw Tar and Fugazi at some big ballroom in Chicago. Last time I saw them was opening for Shellac in Muncie, Indiana in 1994. That's how I discovered Shellac.

Tar just did the right thing for me.

Cheers.

I would shit a brick to see this show. Alas, I was twelve years old at the time.

I wish I could've seen 'em with Arcwelder. I never saw Arcwelder at all. Jawbox were kind of off that night. Maybe jitters because Atlantic A&R people might have been at the show? I dunno. Zach was sweating bullets and dropped his sticks a few times. It seemed odd that they played after Tar...

Anyway, I do like Jawbox. I think they're one of the few bands (along with Shudder to Think) that actually put out something decent on a major label.

Actually, it was at the Aragon ballroom with Slant 6 opening. I don't know why I couldn't remember it back when I originally posted. I believe it was summer or fall of 1993.

Fugazi had played at the Oak Theatre about six months before the show at the Aragon with Tar.
I forget who opened. My young self was way too amped for Fugazi, so I got right up against the stage, then when they started there was such a crush that I feared for my life.
The only time I saw Tar was at that Aragon show, and they just about punched my balls off. I remember buying one of those black and red T-shirts, I think it had a globe on it or something. The Tar t-shirt was not as timeless as Tar's music, which was disappointing, because it was a rad shirt.

I remember when Tom broke the foot. That sucked. Lifted his SVT off of his orange cabinet, and the fucking thing pitched forward like a falling tree and landed on the crown of his foot. You can only back up so fast with an SVT in your arms...I guess he could have dropped the SVT to catch the cabinet but hell...drop an SVT?

Anyway, thanks for all the kind words. I'm sitting here shellshocked...
