Fantomas is not Crap.

Granted, Patton is annoying and his fans are fucking horrid...they can ruin any sort of viewing/listening experience with their jock riding. However, who the hell else would put King Buzzo and Dave Lombardo in a room?! Live, they are one of the best bands going...so tight, so intense, and an amazing ability to change gears on a dime.

Patton is a total workaholic and he doesn't give a fuck about commercial appeal...that's respectable.

Super Not Crap.

Just got their new CD in for review yesterday and wow. I'm not sure how listenable it is, but it sure is interesting. It is more along the lines of their first record; if you put their first record, a zany sound effects CD, and some old cartoons in a blender on high speed, it might approximate the sound. There is nothing even resembling a song on this record, which is frustrating but also refreshing in small doses. It sounds like a metal band waging war on FAO Schwarz.

With Patton, you have to know how far you're willing to go with him on his long, twisted journey. Faith No More? yes! Solo voice record? No! Dillinger Escape Plan? Hell yes! with Dalek or the Xecutioners? Hell no! He's not someone you can just buy every release from and know what you're getting. He apparently likes to put out records and can afford to, so he he has license to put out whatever dogshit he wants, but fortunately he puts out a lot of really great msic as well.

I've picked up Suspended Animation again and after giving it a couple more listens it has become my favorite record of theirs. I still like their first one a lot, but something about the new one has struck me with great enthusiasm. I didn't feel that way at first when I bought it, but im glad I do now

Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's stupid.

mike patton is total crap. fantomas also crap, with a waffle factor for the director's cut album.

if tomahawk put out a record without mike patton they'd be not crap (jesus lizard meets melvins meets helmet/battles... what??!!??), but w/ patton definite crap.

Throw me into the group of fanatic Patton fans who are all up on his jock. I don't care. I love him and all what he do.
