I have gotten several requests in the last few days to delete accounts of forum members, and want to start a discussion about why that is a thing now. To be clear, this is people contacting me and asking to have their own accounts deleted and all their posts removed.Haven't done it yet, certainly will if people insist, but it's irrevocable and I want to know why it's suddenly a thing.

First thread I click on and the conversation already makes no sense, which I realise is because b\_d's responses have all been nuked. I hope there was a good reason for this.

A lot of us navigate this forum using 'Go to first unread post' and when people's entire posting history gets deleted it messes that up for, oh about a year.4. Sad to hear Big Dave is going. Any reason in particular?

Also it breaks the page links, which you'll notice if you hit "next page" on a long thread that has had a lot of posts removed.The next page link takes you to the post that used to be at the top of the next page, which after post removals is now probably halfway back on the previous page.

I'd always just thought that was some weird forum glitch.
