Not even using a room mic right now because I want stuff pretty present and dry. But when I do it'll probably be an Oktava MC012 with the cardioid capsule

I just do demo/jamspace recordings but I've been picking up things on deals that specifically my other friend doesn't have so we can voltron when we work on something together

The grey one's capsule came loose and I can't get the damned grill off, been trying to fix it all week - I have no idea how they built this thing, maybe someone epoxied it.

I really love using the two I have. They have less bandwidth for lack of a better word but they have a cool sonic personality. Not too much highs, not too much lows. Happily limited frequency response.

Mason wrote:Man, shout out to Electro-Voice for making odd and completely usable mics that no one really "likes" and so can always be found (excepting the RE-20) for like sixty dollars.+1Though I have some other types of mikes I mostly have a nice selection of dynamic mikes which is mostly due to the fact that I don't have a ton of cash to spend on Microphones. EV mikes really do have a lot of bang for the buck. When I started doing music ev was the brand of dynamics you saw in studios tv and broadcast (with seinhausers) and Shure was more of PA type mike. But over time Shure upped their game and EV is less sought after. Now days there seems to also be a lot of great condenser and ribbon mikes in all price ranges where in the past most of these were just pro studio mikes. A year or so ago I used a stereo AKG condenser mike for drum overheads and it really sounded great in a 4 mike set up.

WISHLIST:SHURE KSM44 (LOVE THESE)SHURE KSM 32 (GREAT UTILITY GOOD ON ALMOST EVERYTHING MIC)BEYER M88 (4-6 would do)COLES 4038I'd be pretty happy with that plus what I have without getting too fantasy land about it.I'd also take a few more Oktava mk-012 (would like to get a pair of omni caps and a bi cap) or sm81, maybe a couple of 421's, and lately I've been using the Audix SCX-25a a lot and really liking it for live sound applications. would love to try it for some recordings.
