I think that saying you "get the best of both worlds" with a 4-hole is misleading. What a lot of people like with a 2-hole is that the high-sensitivity jack is a cascaded input. One gain stage goes into the next in series creating more of a high-gain sound. Using a jumper on a 4-hole does not do that, and instead runs both the bright and normal inputs in parallel. It allows you to blend the sounds of the two channels, but it does not 'stack' them.
