stridordentium wrote:Gotcha. Well now that it's Dublin and not Edinburgh, I'd say seeing a good chunk of Trinity's buildings (namely the library) would be a good use of time. St. Stephen's Green is a nice little park; Phoenix Park is bigger (though arguably nicer). The Little Museum of Dublin is a typically charming way to learn some history. Exchequer Street is where the hip restaurants are. If you can splurge a bit on a nice hotel, the Clarence is a really good one. I didn't go myself but the Guinness Storehouse, seemingly a tourist trap, is apparently totally worth it, even according to natives.Love architecture and a good park. Will check out.stridordentium wrote:Speaking of tourist traps, be wary of the Temple Bar area. The Temple Bar Pub itself is a total tourist trap and at night there are pickpockets around there.Always a good tip!

Another tip - bring LOTS of money. Dublin is hugely expensive

Unfortunately we're in London during the week, not the weekends...If anyone else wants to go it looks like all days are sold out except for one time slot each on the 16th and 17th.

Last year I went to Dublin and I enjoyed it a lot. One of the best experiences was going to Howth and wandering around in the cliffs. So that ´s my recommendation:Take the bus to Howth. Ride the bus to the final station. Get out and go into that cosy little pub. Order a pint of Orchard Thieves Cider and drink it. Then start your hike. You will love every second of it. It takes you one and a half hours to get to the harbour. Eat something there. Then take the bus back to Dublin.

Howth is worth a visit--but Id avoid the Orchard Thieves Cider as its nasty sweet.Take the DART the other way and check out Dalkey--loads of nice bars including Queens &Finnegans where Bono occasionally drops in-but don't let that put you off. Nice walks down to sea from Dalkey--avoid Temple Bar as its overpriced even by Dublin standards and its a pickpockets heaven.

I like my cider bone dry and a little tart, so I'll definitely be avoiding that. I'd already planned to avoid Temple Bar as I've heard from multiple people it's basically like Wrigleyville here.
