Re: PRF CAMPOUT 9/10 - 9/12 - WE'VE GOT BANDS!
13Hello friends!
I am fully aware of all of the precautions and guidelines in place to make the camp out as safe as possible for everyone, with vaccine verification, universal masking, outdoor gathering, individual meals etc. I am also well aware of our human needs to interact, bond, perform and appreciate each other’s music, writing and art. However this delta surge seems to be getting even more intense and I am becoming a little more apprehensive than I was a couple of weeks ago or even a few days ago. Just wondering if there has been any discussion among the leaders about the status of the event based on recent trends, or if there may be any further changes in the works, in terms of both the schedule and/or the protocols.
I am scheduled to play (HOMO/NYMS) and really excited about it. It has been years since I have gotten up in front of people to do anything. It’s really hard for me to think of a more caring and responsible group so as long as the event is still a go, I am in 100%

Re: PRF CAMPOUT 9/10 - 9/12 - WE'VE GOT BANDS!
14Great questions and I 100% share ALL of these concerns. Delta is no joke and we are absolutely not fucking around with how seriously we are taking everyone's safety.
So first, the event is still GO unless there is a declared health emergency which cancels the event or PLC decides to cancel for one reason or another. Right now, I have no clue if that will happen or not, but if it does, everyone will be getting full refund of course and absolutely. I know this sucks if you're flying in - not much I can do about that. All that being said, here's a run-down of the things that we are doing to help keep this from being a super-spreader event:
1.) MOST IMPORTANT: EVERYONE IN ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED TO BE VACCINATED (with the exception of a few kids under acceptable age range). The CDC believes that even w/ the Delta variant, vaccinated people can interact with minimal risk - but on top of that:
2.) THIS IS AN OUTDOORS EVENT. We've seen over-and-over that outdoor ventilation is maybe the best barrier to transmission - even before the vaccines were available. Even if we have rain, we have access to covered areas w/ out issue - not as nice as outdoors, but still safe.
3.) Masks will be required in public indoor locations. This is going to be places like the bathrooms and Retreat Center and the Dining Hall where the refrigerators are. Sandra will be monitoring CO2 levels in those places.
4.) You can wear your mask all day if you want. No one is going to give you a hard time if you want to wear a mask even if you're outside and distant. N95 and KN95 masks provide the best safety and are now widely available. Highly recommend.
Here's more detail in our COVID Policy.
So yeah, we aren't just "plowing forward in spite of the risks" or anything like that. We had all these plans in place fully expecting the Deltapocalypse to hit just as the scientists warned that it would months ago. So the plans aren't really needing to change right now.
That being said, if you are personally not comfortable, please don't come. I have personally gone through this myself multiple times since this whole ghastly debacle began - there's no hard feelings and we respect your comfort level. We'll refund you up to the 15th if you just change your mind, no problem. But after that we need to lock in and will only refund if we're ordered to by state mandate or some other higher authority.
Again, there's no way to reduce risk to zero, but we believe that we have smart people who aren't fools and take this seriously enough that we can do this safely. Honestly, a huge part of me feels like we could have done this in relative safety last year. This isn't an off-campus freshman kegger.
All of these things combined should keep this from being a super-spreader event. People who can't comply with what is just common sense expectations will get the boot, but I feel like we all know what we're getting into and I cannot possibly expect this to be an issue. This is a large group of friends. We all know one another and we're all more-or-less on the same page. Again, this isn't a show at the Metro or whatever.
Hope that answers your questions and addresses concerns. Feel feel to PM me w/ any other issues/concerns and I'm happy to help.

Re: PRF CAMPOUT 9/10 - 9/12 - UPDATED SCHEDULE
17First wanted to share here that in addition to the money we raised for the camp by renting their facilities, we also were able to donate an extra $2000 on top of that. So if you came, you helped make that happen - I thank you and so does the camp!
Now the fun part: as an extra treat for those who either couldn't make it or DID make it and want to relive some nice memories, I was able to record multitrack audio of most of the bands sets that weekend and Bryce and Aaron captured video, so we're going to trickle out everyone's set from this weekend (if the bands themselves approve of course).
There were a few technical issues, including power problems and a one-and-a-half-years rusty sound tech (me), so we might not have EVERYTHING multi-tracked, but I'll mix the sets that get approved, then send them to Bryce to sync up and upload to youtube hopefully on a one-set-per-week schedule.
With that being said, here's our opener's set: Photo-Curio. I cannot imagine a better band to bring us back into this thing we do. From their very first note, it was just an immediate release of all the stress and anxiety that I've been hanging onto for a year and a half. Maybe that's relatable. There's a ton of magical moments throughout their set. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
[editor's note: there was an audio glitch from the recorder on their first track, so the first song is camera audio then transitions to the multi-track mix right after that]

Re: PRF CAMPOUT 9/10 - 9/12 - UPDATED SCHEDULE
18Here's Future Living's set. If you didn't catch them at Thundersnow 2020, this is Anne (Petrillo) and Chafe (OUT/Minutes/Wowsa) and Neal's (way too many to count) band. They probably should be your favorite "new" band. That last song in the set is "Necessary Passage" and is the current one I cannot get out of my head.
In fact, here's a reminder that this Friday is Bandcamp Friday.
Check out track 7 for real.
On a personal note, I was originally thinking mixing all these live sets was going to be this arduous chore and time suck, but it's really been great. I think mentally this is the benefit of doing recording work when you WANT to as opposed to having to do it to pay bills, which for me kinda destroyed something I really loved for a long time.
