Finally got to grips with Labyrinth: War on Terror this morning. Had a great game and will definitely be getting the two expansions. A lot of attrition and firefighting to be had.

Had a first crack at the newest edition of
Polis yesterday. Needs a bit of table space to play comfortably, but it's a very good Ancient Greek strategy game. The battle system isn't great, but battles are really a minor part of it all.

Got to grips with Blackout: Hong Kong. Very good, but definitely one to benefit from a higher player count.

Anyone tried Wingspan yet? I bought it recently but haven't had time to dig into it yet.

Any Axis and Allies fans here?
My friends and I used to play frequently in my 20's when it was easy to find 3-5 hours for a board game. Now we pass around an online version of the game using gamesbyemail.com. Now a game goes on for weeks with players taking a turn usually every couple days. It's pretty cool and a good way to stay in touch with people out of state, but not as immersive.
The problem is the group is so good at the game that it takes several games before anything unusual or surprising happens, as the games have fallen into a few predictable patterns.

Thinking about taking on a war game. I play a couple of the GMT ones (Labyrinth and Twilight Struggle), but quite fancy all that Field Admiral pushing models with a big rake caper.

Does Twilight Struggle have a solo variant, or just two-player?

Pretty sure it does (Labyrinth definitely does). Haven't played solo though.
