Hell, it IS the comic book. They based shots off of frames from Frank Miller's comic, pulled the plots and large amounts of dialogue directly from the page, unaltered, and even kept the color scheme.

When you get down to it, though, it was pretty fucking awesome, and should be considered a model for future adaptations of graphic novels.

Also, Marv? Badassest.

By "they", are you referring to Robert Rodriguez and FRANK MILLER. Of course "they" are base shots on the comic panels. I know you said you enjoyed it and everything but this just seems like a very strange and misleading comment to make.

the movie was awesome. all you who keep whining about it are stupid and annoying.
I am sure it is not as cool as some obscure japanese/foreign film you might reference or something. nerds.
I have noticed that any film I enjoyed on this board there is someone on here has some picky "problem" with it.
it must be hard to be you people. you're the same tarantino-haters that get on my nerves.
sticks bottom lip out and makes a sissy face

Not really. The film seemed a pretty verbatim translation of the comics. Whether this is a good or bad thing, I haven't made my mind up yet. Bring on "Elektra: Assassin".

i haven't seen the film yet, knew about it as a graphic novel from the bits that appeared in UK comic CRISIS some years ago, and i've seen the TV/poster ads for it around the city.

i'm sure i'll sound like a complete prude saying this, but the poster ads made me a bit uncomfortable. clive owen with a gun in our faces and then a quote from an irrelevant review (Kerrang? The Sun?) by the side "THE COOLEST FILM OF THE YEAR". i dunno, it's not necessarily offensive to me, but it just struck an odd chord of discomfort.

if i did go to see it, i'm sure i'd be swept along and enjoy every highly-stylised minute of it.

i'm guessing you have pretty intense ADD, if you equate "like years ago" with "within the past 12 hours".
