Not crap in the slightest! While the first, less jazzy EP seems to get the most props, I think Surviving you always is by FAR their best. I dig the "fake-jazz" on "We became snakes" a lot too in spite of some unfortunate bass-lines. Wordbroken is only for the die-hards I guess but there's some truly good improv-rock there and I wish they could have retained Mike Watt as a bassist on "We became...". The archival live-release is ace too. I haven't heard any of the reunion material though which I need to rectify...

Anyone? That scratchy part that comes around 0:37
Sounds like Baiza is scraping the strings w/ his pick - like, a pick slide, but broken up w/ staccato rhythm instead of one long uninterrupted slide down the string.

Thank you very much.
Sorry for my shitty English

People really shouldn't sleep on their 2001 "reunion" album The Great One is Dead. It combines all of the tendencies of their previous work (the harsh postpunk of Pagon Icons, the proto-mathcore of Surviving You Always and the experimentation of We Become Snakes) but with crisper production. I think it was rereleased a few years ago.
