Only now, in my middle age, getting into gear. Beyond looking like an old answering machine, I don't have much of an opinion on this fella.

I specified the SR-16 because I figured the HR-16 would be an easy NC due to the Godflesh association, although I think they used both? Conventional wisdom says they’re pretty much the same but I find the HR-16’s kick pretty weak by comparison, unless one does some layering which I am far too lazy for. Also the SR-16 has built in reverb which annoys most but I find charming.

If you're recording to a DAW session, it doesn't align with the click track.
Noticed the same thing with a Roland R5. And I recall reading somewhere that the midi timing on old drum machines generally had about 10ms of slop in either direction. Which is quite a bit!
