I have picked up a few "by the seat of my pants" gigs like this when a buddy of mine had conflicts.
Fun stuff if you're lucky enough to land with a good crew! Sounds like you did!

Cool stuff.

23 year old me would have killed a dog to get a gig like that.

probably not so much anymore, but it sounds like fun once in a while.

I saw Billy Idol once about 15 years ago and my favorite part of the show was watching the roadie play drums on the 'Rebel Yell' encore so the drummer could move to 2nd guitar.

The Roadie Dude just had a fucking blast like "Fuck, yeah! Funnest five minutes of my day" while the drummer got to run around like a rock star for once.

The Roadie Guy kicked some ass back there, too. It was awesome. Maybe he was the drum tech? Maybe it was 'White Wedding'? It was a while ago... Do they still switch it up at the end?

Weird was just talking the other day about how seeing Billy Idol was about the ONLY good part of playing a show on Warped Tour 15 years ago.

Not related to the gig (congrats, tho!) but this reminds me of a recent anti-pollution campaign that happened here and most people outside of NYC, and even some that are here, wouldnt know about:

@cjury - Is it such a small world that you are the same Chris Jury that I went to high school with? The same that got my old band into New River Studios to record our demo back in the 1990's???
If so or not, congratulations on the gig. and thank you for the detailed recount of the experience.
