Re: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
12I duck in and out with the Gizz, and a little goes a long way. I enjoy KG, LW, and Flying Microtonal Banana, but not enough to obsess over them and listen to every album. Everyone I know who saw them last time they were in Austin said it was a remarkable live show, and I’ll likely go see them next time they come through. As far as other bands in the same vein go, I’ll choose Horse Lords over King Gizz on most days.
KGLW is not crap, with a generous side of waffles.

13It is ok for a backyard BBQ or something but I get bored pretty easy. I Get it though. They seem to have a lot of fun.
Re: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
14no opinion, but I can't get past the fact that my friend who is a big Phish-and-other-jammy-bands Phan likes these guys. And some other band who's name is something like Pigeons Playing Ping Pong.
This whole Deadhead Phish axis has served as an invisible forcefield preventing me from even looking at this Lizard band.

Re: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
15I love how clearly excited they are by being in a band and making records, even down to things like the new LP, they got one copy pressed by their mastering engineer, then re-recorded from the acetate, just for shits and giggles. Sounds terrific.
Re: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
16Since I last posted on this thread yesterday, I’ve listened to their album “LW” three times. Man, when they’re hot, they’re hot.
There is an element of jubilation that I really enjoy with this band. I’m not going to worry about what kind of hippy-dippy crowd they pull. They’re doing something really different, and I appreciate it.
Still haven’t listened to the new collab with TFS. I’ll get to it, eventually. I can only actively ingest so much music at one time, and my capacity diminishes the older I get.

17I feel like this is a legit concern if you ever liked a band enough to check out their live show. There's tons of music I like in spite of their fans and wouldn't go see them perform live as a result.Dave N. wrote: Thu Apr 07, 2022 11:51 am I’m not going to worry about what kind of hippy-dippy crowd they pull.
Re: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
18I've only seen them once, in Dublin, play to a big sold out theatre. Apart from me, pretty much, it was all kids, whole crowd singing along and bouncing to every tune.
Re: King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
19Most of the new album doesn’t do much for me, but goddamn…this song rules.
