I'm hoping to finally make it out this year. My own band can't make it (and we missed the submission date), but I wonder if there's any chance of playing drums with someone else over the week? Maybe some misfit group of folks from other bands (or without bands?) Is that a weird thing to ask about?

I had this thought too. I'd gladly pick up the bass or rhythm guitar for anyone.
You may have heard me in The Five Mod Four (2002-now) or Body Futures (2012-2018) or other bands that aren't on the internet
I'm also part of the Communication Madison arts collective

I'd be game as well, though will likely only be there on one or both weekend days.

EDIT: though I would have doubts the curators would allow time for an ad hoc performance, considering what I would presume were a good number of quality acts that submitted to perform.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if there's like a karaoke kind of thing that might happen on one of the days where people can sub in and out, but as others have said, there's already a lot of music, so maybe it doesn't really make sense in this context. Anyway, flights booked!

Wait, is it this Taylor?
Holy shit. I forgot about this. I had this physical release at some point around the time they made these. One of the band members worked with a good friend. Not 100% sure I ever saw them. Or maybe I did see them at Big Horse. It's all fuzzy.

For me this is also a chance to celebrate the lives of the FMs we have lost since just before and during the Plague Time, Rob, Jake, Amanda and BRW. Their presence will be missed. I hope to raise a glass in their memory with many of you. In fact I propose an official kick off toast for each one of them each of the four days. Thursday for RW, Friday for JN, Saturday for AM and Sunday for BRW. Or do BRWs toast whichever day the REM karaoke is happening and swap around one of the others.

I am not suggesting anything more than someone leading a toast at the start of each days events, to one of each of them on each of the four days. Not even speeches. Just a moment to remember them together and share a glass of whatever you are having and then get down to the business of having a good time just like they would have wanted us to do. Or even one big toast for all four at the start of Thursday. Just a suggestion. Take it or leave it. I'll be toasting to them all weekend either way.
