Yes, and it sounds like similar issues are happening on the EGC side now too. Sucks. It was somewhat understandable with new old stock Travis Bean parts, even if he should have disclosed those flaws in the photos. For a $3,000 guitar little chunks in the fretboard are unacceptable, even if the guitar is mostly playable. For brand new necks/guitars there are zero excuses, really.

I've played four bolt ons in the past couple years.

EGC: Got this one new a few months ago. It's perfect. Feel, fit and finish, fret work etc.... Could not be happier

Robot Graves: Played one and I liked how it looked/felt. The nut was slotted higher than it should have been but that is easily fixable.

Aluminiati: Felt cheap/rushed. Fit and finish was mediocre at best. Certainly not terrible but not great at all. I've played one of their completed guitars and felt the exact same way about it.

Alef: I played a bass with an Alef neck but I'm no bass player. It seemed good.

I own an EGC neck/thru and love it. I was also terrified to order a new one, and I doubt I ever would from horror stories and lack of response when I was asking questions about options on a new instrument. Original question answered quickly, they didn't know a specific question and "had to ask Kevin", waited a couple days, sent a friendly follow up, no response, waited another 3-4 days, sent a final response and still heard nothing. Decided to just be patient and buy used. Quality of the instrument is fantastic, no complaints there.

I played a Robot Graves neck on a friends guitar for a couple hours. Felt really great to me. I am not sure if my friend did any work on it, but I dug it.

Developing Nations are incredible feeling guitars, and if I don't go Travis Bean, DNG is probably the next bass/guitar I will buy.

TTTides seem real cool, but being in the US I haven't had the opportunity to try one.

Oh nice, thanks for sharing that. It's something of a relief. It didn't seem to match his character.

May have followed up about it with better pictures or whatever. Same thing. To make sure they didn't just fall off the face of the earth, he inquired about a separate guitar for sale. Pretty fast response. Gross. I doubt King Bozo goes thru this shit.

This. They would also say "we're shipping it friday!"...then not ship. I would hear nothing then write back the following Wednesday or Thursday asking if their timeline had changed. The answers were always a bit juvenile-sounding, rather being blunt about blowing their timeline (along the lines of "I was totally going to email but..."). Enough of these sorts of emails, and you begin to worry about your money. They also made the wrong neck, which delayed things on their end and had to make this one quickly—which I appreciate!

Which is why it's all so surprising that there was some damage on the finished product.

The recommendations are good so far. Developing Nations and Robot Graves are two who would be suspect, based on earlier conversations, but I'll see about contacting them for neck-only work.
