I didn't know where to put this:

Practice room buddy had a 20-year old MXR Carbon Copy that had fallen out of rotation, apparently because it passed signal but added zero delay.
I googled it and there's an electro-static issue with this model during this era, so I emailed MXR/Dunlop.
They sent me an authorization number, I mailed them the pedal (California), and a month later they sent it back repaired, no further charge/fee.

Cost me about $9 and now we have an old friend back in action.
I love that, thank you, Dunlop.
Pleased as punch over here.

I’ve had similar results from Zvex and Xotic. It’s a great feeling.

I had the opposite result with EH about 10 years ago. Bought a Memory Boy... few months later it dies, no delay sound at all, just clean. No response from EH. Bought a second one a couple of years later. Surely it was just a fluke right? No. After about a month or two the noise floor got so bad it was unusable. Just SSSSHHHHHUUUUUSSHHHH! Only rely from EH was that Analog delay is noisier than digital delay and it is probably my fault for not understanding that. Fuck Electro Harmonix.

On the other hand, when I was at the Chicago Cultural Center we sent in a few broken mics to Shure and they charged us like $150 bucks and sent us a brand new replacement SM81, Beta 52 and if I remember a couple of 58's. All new in the boxes. We were a Non-for-profit though, but great service.

I've seen these repaired in this manner exactly. If you're actually using it to step on, it will bring you the additional peace of mind that you're not stomping on a collectible switch. EHX got rid of these custom switches themselves on the Russian Muffs by the Black era, probably for this reason.
