Why do you want to write songs?

If you don't have any particular reason to want to do it, that might be why you're demotivated.

I've mentioned this in other threads, but I've found when I'm on a long break or in a rut and want to get going, it helps me tremendously to participate in the PRF Monthly Tribute Series . It helps to just start making something, and usually by the time the cover is done (or even before the cover is done) all kinds of ideas are popping in to my head.
