I'm also in favor of boring consumables. $50 isn't enough to get much else worth getting without spending over and above, and if you weren't already saving for something bigger you had your eye on, don't waste your money trying to justify wanting something you're not already into. Strings or straps or picks.

Monster Prolink instrument cables seem to still be under $50. Those and a pack or two of strings. Fill in the rest with picks or whatever.
