I have all my key inputs on a separate DB-25 connector so I am no help. Going to do what Kniferide said because that seems like really good idea.

Totally just being silly.
Seems more important to have something that works well together and makes sense to you rather than spend a bunch of time to make it to some standard someone made up.

I was all hung up on having only outs on top and ins on bottom and wasted a bunch of time thinking about it, but actually I just need something that works so I can record some sounds. The whole point of all this.

The key inputs are different in nature, and less numerous, than all the various ins/outs, and I'm similar to you, the asymmetry would make me nuts.
Maybe you just need to get a little "key input sidecar".
That's an idea. I'm so burned out on building cables. I'm almost done. I'm going to go with the diagram Kniferide posted.
