IMO, the three where the stars really aligned are:
Songs About Fucking (Atomizer has some amazing highs but is still a bit ensnared by its 80s Euro post-punk / proto-goth influences - S.A.F is a rabid, all American beast)
Two Nuns... (primarily for that rhythm section, also some really scything guit-lines from Steve, real venomous playing)
At Action Park (Terraform just missing the cut: that's my personal fav Shellac record (esp the opener) but the debut is pretty perfect sonically / conceptually and all the songs are really strong)

As a complete album, 1000 Hurts easy.
I love Terraform immensely but "House Full of Garbage" drags it down for me.
Racer-X and Bulldozer are where it's at for BB. Perfect songs, perfect length. I have a hard time getting through a whole BB album now but I'm old.

The middle period Songs, Nuns, Action. If I could choose the 3 early Shellac singles instead of Nuns, I probably would.

I've seen a few people mention a strong distaste for this song over the years. I don't get it. I love how grimy and unhinged it is.
+1. I love that song. The opener is the one I have trouble with. *ducks*

Chewed over this for a while - very tough.
Went Action, Hurts, Greyhound. Happy with that.
Edit: Not sute why I wrote Dude there. Brainfart.

I picked Two Nuns because it's my favorite release. Songs About Fucking is my favorite Big Black. And Terraform because I think the actual recording sounds the best.
