Hot Snakes are my fave. I like every record they did, even the new one whose recording feels weird to me and cant exactly explain why.
I was WAY into the FIRST Jehu record for awhile, Yank Crime is fine, always felt a little long in the tooth for me.
RFTC, lots of great songs sprinkled throughout, never LOVED an album straight through.
and the rest I dont really reach for much and have very little opinion about.

Jehu (no hooks, sounds like generic noise rock)
I'd say it's closer to screamo but yes: not something that would have made an impression on me if I heard it today.

Jehu's Yank Crime was also the right record at the right time for me. I'm still kind of obsessed with it. I like a lot of progressive music so the longer songs don't bother me.
Hot Snakes would rank second. Rick Froberg is one of the best hard rock vocalists ever. Plenty For All is the jam.
I actually dig the Pitchfork stuff a lot. When Hot Snakes played Tucson right before the pandemic hit, they hung out after the show and I asked John if there were any plans to reissue Eucalyptus on vinyl since original LP copies were going for $75-$150 online. He said "Oh, really?" and I could kind of see a lightbulb go on over his head.

My ordering no one else will agree with:
1) Hot Snakes
2) RFTC
decent
Night Marchers (Allez has some riffs!)
the rest
Jehu (no hooks, sounds like generic noise rock)
Pitchfork (not bad, kinda interesting)
Sultans (yawwwwwwwwwn)
Plosivs (I fucking hate this singer so much)
Agreed re the Sultans, but Jehu? No hooks? Super Unison? Bullet Train to Vegas?

That's my exact list.
(and that is only because Hot Snakes are bringing
Thunder Down Under to the table. Otherwise, it would be RFTC easily...)

Broke the tie in favor of Jehu. Hot Snakes rule too and I'd probably be slightly more pumped to see them live than DLJ but Yank Crime will always hold a special place in my heart.

i don't like his or Froberg's vocals so I'm not really into any of these bands. I had my time with Yank Crime when I was a kid and the Hot Snakes albums are probably the best listed, but the only thing he's done that I listen to now is the surf album he did with The Blind Shake.

Hot Snakes is the best. Kinda perfect rock music if you ask me.
Jehu hit me way, way later, and really only Yank Crime, but I'll still jam that on occasion.
Night Marchers were fantastic live but the albums leave me cold. That Back Off Cupids record was kinda cool--it's been years since I've played it, though.
Don't give a shit about the rest. Was hoping for more out of that Plosivs album, but oh well. Maybe the next one will be a banger.

This is a great one. At the time of making this record there was talk of them doing three different records together. A drag racing themed and some other one I can't remember.
