Curious to see what everyone’s top five non-Miles fusion records would be.

I don’t have a top five. I just want to get educated.

Agreed. Share some of those DeJohnette gems especially. Him, along with Williams on those late '60s Miles records, were kinda the original motorik drummers..

Off the top of my head (you can probably quibble about these straddling fusion/funk/avant boundaries) and of roughly of the era:

Wayne Shorter Super Nova
Herbie Hancock Fat Albert Rotunda
Lonnie Liston Smith Cosmic Funk
Larry Young Lawrence of Newark
Bennie Maupin Jewel in the Lotus

Been a while since I listened, but from memory there's some proto-drum-n-bass grooves on the 'silent way' box set.

If DeJohnette is on it the record is probably worth at least a spin but Joe Henderson's Multiple springs to mind, which I actually could have added to my "top 5" as well now that I think about it

Actually the first few Earth Wind & Fire records, esp The Need of Love are bonkers fusion jams and Billy Paul's (of "Me & Mrs Jones" fame!) War of the Gods, both obv more soul/fusion/R&B but worth hearing I think

Not sure what would fill out the personal top five, but these would be in there:
