Indie rock dudes be like: "You see, son, It's difficult for me to explain, but wearing shorts under ANY circumstances, even when it's 95 degrees out, is just not cool and will not be tolerated. You need to wear tight jeans that bunch up in all the wrong places and accentuate your frail, yet dumpy body."
That's not it for me. I'm 100% a shorts wearer, including on stage. I honestly have just never though about the glove thing. I brought my glove when I was a kid and have been to piles of games as an adult and it never even dawned on me to do it. When he asked it just sounded really silly to me. He has already talked me into it though and we're showing up when the gates open to watch batting practice and up our chances of getting a ball.

Me, to my indie rock bandmates back in the day: "You guys have a lotta rules."

A bit weird if you're not with a kid, but whatever. If you're with a kid, and the kid wants you to do it, then yes.

I think Steve had a glove with him when he caught a foul ball on TV at a Cubs game in Puerto Rico.

Update: Both kids and I brought gloves. Was actually really fun. All three of us sitting there with our gloves on while my wife made fun of us. Caught nothing. Will bring again with the kids.

Side note: All summer we've been going to games by our local collegiate league team and they are just better than an MLB game. I never thought I'd say that but it's true. Way cheaper, great seats, fun atmosphere without endless distractions. Always run into friend. Plenty of foul balls for the kids, etc... Sure, the play is better in the MLB but the local team is good, with 5 players drafted by MLB teams this year.

Well that makes sense.
