This guy is a little unhinged to me. I've never found any Nirvana guitar tones to be especially interesting an any way that the Boss Demo Pedalboard at Guitar Center can't solve. Everyone has their model train set I suppose.

I always wind up thinking "This young man's wig is going to straight up flip when he finally comes across The Flaming Lips records that Ronald Jones is on..."

I don't know if this is related- but I have been asked to receive a cast copy of a veleno neck and body and finish it up. This would mean adding the headstock ruby, cut fret slots, sand and polish, fit and finish.

Will let you know what it looks like, if it works out.

can't imagine that there's multiple people having cast velenos made out there, so I bet it's the same guy.

Definitely more interesting than the Ds1 into a Small Stone tones and one of the worst Fender amps ever made (Quad Reverb, which I owned for a really long time) of Nirvana. I'm no tone chaser but Kurts sound just never hit me as exotic in any real way. Really though, Nirvana doesn't hold up to time to me like it does some people so the entire endeavor is a little eyebrow arching for me. Who am I to judge? I own like 12 different reverb pans for no good reason.

Be careful - Veleno's sort of "back" (I think in conjunction with the Aluminati folks, but don't quote me on that) and charging $10k for guitars. I wouldn't be surprised if they start trying to get litigious with the headstock/ruby aspects of the designs.

Is there a reason other than a personality disorder that Billy Corgan thinks Butch Vig helped Kurt Cobain ripped off his guitar sound?

Kurt's whole bag was beat up Fenders and Epiphones and Boss pedals.

I mean, outside of the priceless stuff, a lot of Radiohead’s gear throughout their classic era was just kind of guitar center junk w/ b-team vintage instruments. Count the Teles with kill switches now

Even going through Jimmy Page’s gear book and towards the mid 70s on you see a ton of gadgets that look like some goofy bullshit you’d find in a vintage Guitar Player ad.

(Everyone’s dancing and they don’t know I have a 70s Firebird and croc skin Selmer)
