I'll have to re-listen to this one, It has been too long for my vote to count, but my impression was that it was annoying and British, and unlike what came before. Obviously the boys can still compose and play...but with diminishing returns. I will revert with a legitimate review.

Honestly, and no disrespect, but I've never understood the self-centered critique usually levelled at this record and/or film - unless you want to call Rog self-centered then you'll get no argument from me! But, like, it's a concept about a rock star ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
prescient et not crap

Ok, I made it through. Had to listen to the YouTube video of the album because I don't actually own a copy anymore (had it on CD, which went bye-bye a while ago).
Thoughts in sequence:
1) I just about stopped through three songs. Not much to keep me motivated. Am I really doing this?
2) Despite hearing both of them way too many times, "Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)" and "Mother" are still pretty darned awesome. Something to keep me going.
3) It's a slog for a while after that, though I do like "Young Lust".
4) The second half of the album starts out strong. Big fan of "Hey You", "Nobody Home", and "Vera".
5) I've heard "Comfortably Numb" and "Run Like Hell" too many times and they have lost their luster for me more than some of the other "hits".
6) I just wanted the album to end after that.
Overall thoughts:
1) It's way too fucking long.
2) I would say there are five or six excellent songs on the album.
3) There are way too many "songs" that are just there to push the plot.
4) It's not close in quality to the best Floyd albums, which (IMO) are the four or five that immediately precede this one.
5) If I want to listen to a concept album about a disillusioned young man, Quadrophenia >> The Wall
6) This is tough but CRAP; WF: 7

The Slog is right on. It’s like 6 out of the last 8 songs on record 1 are about abject depression and mental breakdown. I am not going to say Waters wasn’t legit going through some shit, but that stretch ends with “Goodbye Cruel World” and I cannot believe the 14 year old me, going through a lot of change and emotional growth, would listen to that dozens, maybe 100 times and be like “this is normal music.”

Many valid points here, I would just like to say I think some of the guitar work on another brick might well be Gilmour's best work.

With a little help from Lee Ritenour, apparently.
Gilmour doesn't *always* deserve the high praise he gets, but the solo at the end of that song is fucking killer.
Wasn't familiar with the assist from Lee Ritenour. I'm assuming inspiration or advice?

What if Comfortably Numb had a real ending and not a fade out?

We don't have to imagine... I sort of like the fade-out better.

I immediately realized after posting that that they must have had some different ending for the live set, and you’re right, a fade-out is better.
