I like his playing in 'Tool' a lot (haven't listened to anything past 'Lateralus'), there is a bunch of good (for an audience recording) sounding videos from the Aenima tour on youtube and he is tremendous there - obviously A-class technical chops but still a good sense of groove and uh 'rock'. Also seems like a very enthusiastic guy in each video I see him in. Easily NC.

I don't like technical drummers mostly because they make me feel inferior and I wish I wouldn't care but I do and I'm also lazy so it's good that I have my own thing going on. Gimmie a Moe Tucker or Jimmy Cobb or FM Isaac. Understated lyricism.

Adam Jones is my favorite tool though I don't enjoy the music of Tool.

Weirdly I listen to Tool for mostly everything but the drumming. I really enjoy the bass player.

Ænima is one of my favourite albums period, there’s some great grooves and fills. The fill at the end of 46&2 always gives me a dopamine rush.

He’s clearly a highly talented drummer. But I preferred him when he wasn’t doing only 15min songs. From what I’ve read Tool going from a mix of normal rock and epic prog to just prog is his doing. The bass player has hinted the next record will be more direct. Fingers crossed because Carey is better on a leash.
