Love Trainer for all the obvious reasons, but I think it’s mr Walfords work on Spiderland that actually made me “drum aware” . Up to that point I don’t think I listened to drums much in music (well apart from no means no where it was so up front you couldn’t ignore it). Britts drumming was so different and spacious it made me sit up and take notice - incredible stuff and he takes the trophy
Second- Janet Weiss for her fantastic drive and swing

12Jimmy Chamberlain can take his tappa tappa “oh my god, if you listen closely, what i’m doing is much more jazz than rock” bullshit and fuck off.
damon che and todd trainer is a sophies choice. i chose damon but could be swayed easily if i put on LIAR or saw them live right now.
this list doesn’t even have Ryan Rapsys, haha what’s the point.

13I voted Mac on a whim, but agree that Lo should be on here. His drumming in Chavez was fucking sick.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.

14For me, Tim Alexander or John Stanier. Tough call.
If The James Lo was on here, it'd be him.

16Don't you like what he does on a track like Geek Usa? Or silverfuck?akosinski wrote: Sat Mar 22, 2025 8:17 pm Jimmy Chamberlain can take his tappa tappa “oh my god, if you listen closely, what i’m doing is much more jazz than rock” bullshit and fuck off.
Re: Drum-o-dome - the 90s
19It was Brendan Canty. All of the others listed were really good at what they did but I think their feel and focus were narrow. Except that Smashing Pumpkins guy. I have almost no idea what he did and god willing I never will.

20Dorothy from Steel Pole bath Tub and Jeff Mooridian Jr from Hammerhead/Vaz deserve mentions and would be close to the top of my list.
