I remember when this ruled MTV for a second and I HATED it -- now I hear it and it sounds pretty nice. Nice harmonies.
Seems like a weird band who scored a fluke hit, not crap.

Not Crap. I've had a soft spot for Concrete Blonde since I first heard them, around 1983. Johnette seems like a super interesting person. I like 'Joey', but I like 'Happy Birthday' more. I saw them play in a tiny bar in Statesboro GA around 1989. Pretty amazing show.

That first album is really great. Fits really nicely next to the True West or Dream Syndicate albums of that era, I think. Something in the air in LA around that time, I swear.
I'd toss Thin White Rope in there as well. More desert than beach, y'know?
Never heard of this band. Thank you.

Joey, for the time, I didn't hate it and still don't.

I hate this song with a passion, even though it is about one of my favorite guitarists.

God is a Bullet is a jam though.

I will say crap with waffles because she has a great voice and is a pretty decent player. I of course love the Pretty and Twisted album that Johnette did with Marc.

These warbly vocals get a bit grating.

I love this song and this album and Johnette Napolitano in general

I am pro Joey. I also like the Pretenders’ Kid, and really any song where a strong woman counsels a weak man. Or really any song with the Be My Baby beat.
