back in the late 90s/early 2000s the guys from Neutrino started an electronic sampler type band (kind of like dj shadow stuff) called Emperor Penguin that I absolutely loved. especially when they played live because the songs with a live band were really fun hearing them emulate the electronic parts. fm jsolomon’s old label “my pal god” put out a few of their records and one piece of merch i loved was a light switch that had a little professor on it and said “EMPEROR PENGUIN” and it glowed in the dark. i installed it in the living room of my old house and forgot to take it with me when i moved out. i still wonder if it’s there.

Not exactly incredible, but just to tie together all the mug talk...Welsh singer Cate Le Bon had a record called Mug Museum, and all the pre-orders for the record came with a handmade mug she made.

I bought that Slint shower curtain.

I have spent more money in the past on stupider things.

It makes me smile.

My mom, when she visited me last week: "Who are these guys on your shower curtain, and why are they watching me pee?"

My vote for incredible merch is the set of stadium cups Harvey Milk made. I had all four; now I have two because when I moved to this apartment one of my boxes of stuff got misplaced and somehow the set had been broken up into separate boxes.
Am I a real curator yet?
