Dear Leader is definitely on record saying he used them for the same reasons everyone else did (if it sounds good on there it sounds good anywhere, etc) in an interview somewhere. I think a magazine caught him after a trade show, sometime in the 90s maybe?

Not that that means he used them forever but I’m sure a lot of good records were mixed on those things.

It's hard to tell because the word on the street is STILL that everyone needs a pair of NS10s. I guess if you ride a bike with 1 big wheel in the front and take laudanum for consumption.... You may need NS10s too.

No one here is funny or has a sense of humor.

I'd like to consume some laudanum

NS10Ms are still ubiquitous because they have (by accident or design) time domain response that is near perfect.

The little powered iLouds are about as good as you're going to find in that price range, I've had my set for almost a decade and am still using them every day and never thinking about them.

Wow it doesn't take much to turn any thread into a NS-10 thread huh? Maybe I should mention them in one of deep_biden@lookatme.com's dumb hreads

I got the Presonus Erises, and they were beautiful, but way too big for the desk, so I returned them. Ended up buying a pair of Edifier M60s that are super, and petite:

(photo from this review, but the size in particular sold me).

Great sound right out the box. It passed the Alabama Shakes Sound and Color test I give all my speakers, and they were only $150. They also come with little aluminum tilt stands, and plug into my cpu via USB-C, so I still have a jack for headphone mixing. killer. Couldn't be happier about this result.

They look like Optimus Pro 7's, which are my prefered tiny speaker over any of those mix cube things. I approve!

Five months later, just saying that I am super happy with the Edifier M60 speakers. Mostly, I don't think about them at all, and shit just sounds great all the time. All I adjust, even for mixing, is just the volume. For the $150 I paid, can't do better. Five stars.
