atheism is a religious doctrine just as much as christianity is i would say. now, had you said you were agnostic that statement would be less contradictive, unless you're trying to insult yourself. also, i know you're probably joking a bit, but it blows my mind how smart some christian people really are. some of the most well spoken, open minded people i've ever met are christian an yet, they're christian.
re: the salt stain,
that thing is the most vague depiction of a woman i could imagine other than the sign on a girl's bathroom. some religious people really are stupid. also, here's a good quote from the people who first saw it which really makes their zeal to discover religious imagery pretty apparent:
"At first we thought it was Jesus Christ, but when we got closer we saw it was the Virgin Mary."

I was waiting for a stronger response. I was doing a tiny bit of baiting, i admit, but I think it's about time religious folk are on the defensive instead of the offensive. Anyway, atheism isn't a religious doctrine. Agnosticism is the belief that it is impossible to know whether or not there is a god, or to put it simply, there is some doubt about the existence of god. I am positive there is no god, therefore atheism is my label.
You're right, though - I've met two or three religious folk who are pretty smart. They definitely wouldn't be worshipping a salt stain, for fuck's sake.
