I saw 'em live. I sat on the stairs at First Avenue the whole time and tore my sweater apart becauzzze the show was dumb. I like their records a whole lot, though.

12Wow, the responses to Neurosis have shocked me! This is one of my 2 most favorite bands of all time. I personally don't think they could go wrong, or have gone wrong with a single piece of art they've ever created. As a matter of fact, Having been a HUGE Neurosis fan from a very young teenager, I can honestly say that Sun That Never Sets is the their best work yet. I think it's a masterpiece.
I have flown to Seattle, San Francisco and New York, all expressly to see this band, and I won't stop until they do or I die.
Viva la Neurosis!
Edit: I forgot to list thst I drove like 36 hours there and back in a rental car from Orlando to Philadelphia to see this band.
Rock.
I love Neurosis.

13Love them...
I can't remember but there is one LP I don't like... it had signing that made me not like it.
But my faves are:
Enemy of the Sun
Through Silver in Blood
Souls at Zero

14Hello drummer of Neurosis. I really like your band! Please come to Australia.
I really don't understand all the negativity towards "A sun that never sets". Personally, I feel that it is their best album. Their "masterpiece" even. It really surprises me that this isn't echoed by the majority. Really. So weird!
To be quite honest, it's the newest album that doesn't really sit well with me. I still enjoy it, but I just don't feel it's up to the "Neurosis standard". I think I'd enjoy it a lot more if the first track wern't on it.
Hmmm, I feel bad about saying that. However, you make crap/not crap poll regarding your band and put her under the scrutiny microscope! I should not feel bad!

17extremely epic and heavy, definitely have their own sound, definitely developed sense of atmosphere, timbre, dynamics, arrangement, detail.
but...
there's a certain "viking warrior" aesthetic to their music that i find harder to swallow as i get older.
NOT CRAP, but it's so bombastic that it can be severely threatened by being taken seriously, and i sometimes i find it hard to take seriously.

18An unlikely band for me to like in many (maybe most) respects, but there it is. I kind of wish the songs were in Italian or Russian so that I could better assign my own meanings to what they’re about though (like opera heard in ignorance). The lyrics seem silly.
Not crap.
Not crap.

19I'm resurrecting this old thread - I am the Jesus - and I don't give two titties.
I only recently got The Eye of Every Storm, and I fucking love it. It lives on my turntable.
Obviously, there are others on here a million times more qualified to comment (they're, like, in Neurosis), but if I may give my tuppence worth: I like the fact that Neurosis lyrics are what they are. To me they're like (and sorry about this) what happens when you wear the magic ring; the world is seen through deeper eyes, impressions of existence are given from a perspective that discards the transitory standing waves of modern civilization, and life is taken to its bare bones. It's elementary. Like the music, the lyrics could be taken as a variation on something belonging to metal, but they're more than that. I don't think they're silly. I like them and I'm very, very glad someone is being Neurosis.
My life's going to be had for this, I know. Magic ring indeed. Oh well, fuck it.
Edit: I think I meant 'elemental', not 'elementary', my dear Watson.

20NOT CRAP!!!
This band is amazing. I like all of their records, though I do think that "Souls at Zero" has obvious weak points.
"The Word As Law" was my starting point. They've grown a lot since then.
I can honestly say that this is one of my top 2 favorite bands ever. They are the best metal band that exists right now. I know, I know, they're not metal, but they're not hardcore either. They're simply wonderful though.
See'em live. That'll make you a believer. I saw them play a 3 hour set and it never got old.
For those of you who dig their slow quite minimal stuff, you need to check out Blood & Time. It's phenomenal.
