I've been a huge fan since Tommy sent me the last Songs:Ohia album. Magnolia Electric Company is a perfect album without a dull moment, I think it has a slight edge on Didn't It Rain for the track Peoria Lunchbox Blues.
Jason Molina seems to be moving around a lot recently, chances are he's playing near you very soon, whoever and wherever you are. Go give him a look.

15i don't like much from didn't it rain on, but i have moods still where i get hyper-obsessed with impala, axxess and ace, and the lioness. driving into pittsburgh in the fall, about to leave everything behind and start college, the radio in my family's car was broadcasting the entire lioness album. it set a nice tone for my new sappy romantic beginning of adult life...i listened to those a lot the next few years, during both periods of being mopey and shut in alone and inviting romantic danger!
my favorites are the 2 songs on that untitled 7", "darling you are..." and "7th street wonderland." and that song he would do live, "vu anxiety" i think it's called...
friends who saw him live back during that era said he was absolutely awful, which intrigued me. he's visited memphis a few times in the past year or so (along with scout), and i've always been a moron who had other plans.
you know, i love love love "captain badass" and "being in love," but there are moments in both where i cringe now. why does he have to screech "captain badASS!!!" and "i'm sure we'll find new things to burn"? sometimes it just comes out seeming comical in a really bad way if i'm not in the right mood. despite being all mean right now, i want to stress he kills me sometimes, which if anything is why the weird push-pull of feelings is frustrating.

i don't wanna post any more comments 'cause if i do my status will no longer be "courtesan."

16Didn't It Rain is one of those albums where you put it on and there's no way you're turning it off or skipping any of the tracks. I don't feel the same way about Magnolia - it's solid, but you know, it's no Rain.

19Agree about didnt it rain. Also Let me go, let me go, let me go is a favourite of mine. Very very bleak record but with amazingly (personal?) and heartfelt lyrics.

20Didn't it Rain is exceptional. as is the adjoining 7er. but i love Impala and how it stands out within his discography.
