Hi Faiz,
I responded to her post not because she didn't like the music, but rather that she was spitting out personal insults that really have nothing to do with the music. However, now I realize she is just manic-depressive and I should have just ignored her. I genuinely care about the music I put out (more than any person should), and I take it personally when anyone insults me and just blatantly lies. Oh well, no big deal.
I have taken the time to highlight the "blatant lies" in
your paragraph, petty as it seems. Music
is personal. That was the point I was making and I feel that it was clear in both Elisha (a dude) and my posts. Bullshit live show often equals thinking the music is bullshit in these parts, Which is why flying off the handle and flinging peurile insults at Elisha puts you in the same category of people you're speaking against.
You seem to be missing the point.
Also, with regard to your little rant:
I don't need you or anyone to tell me I'm lucky. I've worked incredibly hard for everything I've done.
The "sense of entitlement" that is running through this comment means you do need someone to remind you that you're lucky. I've worked with many brilliant, hardworking bands who don't have label support or a publicity agent, and their music is great, some shows they win, some they lose. I've also worked with bands who have these rock amenities (label/pr) and sometimes they win and sometimes they lose. It often has little to do with how much work you put in. Hard work and longevity only increase the chances that someone will take note of what you've been doing, it's not a guarantee.
The reason bands don't tour and people don't listen to their music is because it's bad and they are lazy - not because they aren't lucky.
By your logic, Usher is great and Jandek is bad and lazy. Way to think it through.
Tour around the country for a few months listening to music and you'll realize that good music is not something that is easily found...and good music combined with someone that actually works hard (and is also willing to sacrifice every luxury for what they love) is almost non-existent.
I
have toured around this country (and other countries) and have played with my share of bad and great bands. I've also played shows with great bands who were bad people and bad bands that were great people.
In this last part, aside from saying what I've already said what is your point?
best,
Faiz
kerble is right.
