ive never really been bothered to try a noise gate before, because i like noise so much..about the harmonic percolator, if you want to get its full effect, you need to wire an outside speaker to your amp. you'll love it, it makes it so you can hear this subtle chunky buzz around it!
the song i recomended for a sound sample is pretty much the only time i have been able to record it well(i don't have a multitrack, i just use my ibook.that song is kinda just a soundcheck that went crazy, i was just trying to find a cool sound, and i broke into a rythmic semi-boring but cool sounding jam.i liked it alot, so i tried to play bass along , it came out pretty sloppy, but it sounds cool.

No, I just sold it the other day. I'm using the proceeds to finish my aluminum bodied Tele project.

my gear. A 1918 Swizzer Egg Beater - I've equipped it with some Groove Tubes, and upped the wattage to 100watts per channel. I used some of those rad Dean Markley Strings on it, and I have an exclusive endorsement from Jim Dunlop for picks. I only lube it with Castrol motor oil, and all maintenance work is handled by Avenna Lee. I survive on Taco Bell, and next week I am holding a seance to revive Ed Roth so he can paint flames down the side.
...performance? you mean like sexual?
...are you saying there's something wrong with my gear?
this conversation is definetly geek enough.

You're surprised by gear geekery on a recording studio message board?

Did I say I was surprised? Not at all. I was just rating it's geek factor. Some of the other threads have some decent topics and everything, but when we get down to gear talk, we're really just reaching back into our primordial inner geek.
My favourites are the ones with photo posts though. Displaying the gear like it's a prize girl. They kind of remind me of cheescake photos. The owner of said equipment does not display his face with his prize treasure, it sits alone, an acquisition, to be lusted over by others who might covet his rare original '59 goldtop Les Paul which was signed by both Slash and Englebert Humperdink. Or his HiWatt head which he's driven to produce not 50, not 100, but 400 watts of ridiculous power. It's so loud he can't even play it. It would take your head off way out there in South Dakota, or wherever you might be with your puny Crate practice amp.
Maybe I'm being a little harsh, but if I can't play it or hear it, then I'm just supposed to admire it's beauty - and looking at pics of guitars is a little too fetishist for me. (seen one SG, you've pretty much seen them all) You won't hear me argue against good equipment, because I've met thousands of guitarist (and bass players, and drummers, and sax players) who had chops, but didn't know crap about tone. But also the gear doesn't make the musician.
So, unless we have a technical question about our equipment or are trying to sell it, why are we comparing them here? It's like some sort of macho dick thing.
