Horses for courses and all, but Frankie Norman Warsaw Stubbs has one of my favourite recorded voices- his vocals are emotive and passionate and get me every time I hear them (especially on songs like ‘Andy’). Minx is an amazing album, as is the split with hot water music. ‘Fill your boots' also has some fantastic melodic hardcore songs.
Sure you can bring up the USSR/USA song (which I think may have been called Colorado Joe/ Leningrad Vlad just to up the shame of that moment in their career), but that’s like bringing up the happy little elf song or whatever that was called to a Bowie fan or discounting the Beatles on account of McCartney’s ‘Frog Chorus’.
One of the best punk/post punk/post hardcore/whateverthefuck bands that England produced. Bar none
Plus there are some great lyrics there too
Band: Leatherface
12saw this band mentioned in the fugazi/tjl thunderdome, thought i'd give it a bump.
mush is amazing (minus message in a bottle--sheesh). i had to buy fill your boots from an online used cd store in france, but it was worth it. almost as good.
horsebox has the worst snare sound this side of the 80's and dog disco has the worst album cover this side of the 70's, but they're good records. your choice live series split with jawbox is great too. everything else is frustratingly inconsistent.
i love this band.

13the earlier records and live stuff is all great. same with the 10'' mentioned above (likely one of my first posts). Horsebox was not good.
i always thought they had kind of a heavy metal Jawbreaker thing going on. that's why i like 'em...
again, Not Crap.

15Not Crap.
Been listening to a lot of Mush. Good record, you have to adjust your ears to 1991 or something. Pretty generic punk rock, but the vocals are quite melodic and hooky in a nice way.

18Only thing I ever heard of theirs was called FILL YOUR BOOTS and I liked it a lot. In my limited experience, I vote NOT CRAP.

Here, here. I doubt I could ever get tired of seeing or hearing Arcwelder.
As far as Leatherface goes I have always liked them by default. I have friends that are absolutely mad for Leatherface and as a result I know I have heard Mush, Minx, Cherry Knowle, Horsebox and Dog Disco tons of times. It grew on me over time but I am not at all obsessed with them. I do quite like Frankie's cover of "Ship Song" though.
